This rowdy karaoke club and classic Chinatown watering place is perched above a lively section of East Broadway and pulls in both locals who live in Chinatown as well as hipsters from the surrounding area who are seeking to show off their singing skills.
The interior of the pub features a number of interesting sights, including large red booths, the establishment’s well-known punch, and chandeliers constructed from recycled karaoke laserdiscs.
For the past three decades, Winnie’s, an old-school hole and rowdy karaoke bar in the shadow of the Tombs, has been gathering Chinatown locals and trendy visitors for boozy singalongs. Winnie’s is located in the shadow of the Tombs (otherwise known as the Manhattan Detention Complex). It was another another victim of the Golden City when it finally shut its doors in 2015. An unlikely rebirth of Winnie’s took place on East Broadway on Valentine’s Day of this year; the holiday is named after the bar.
