One of the four colleges that are owned and operated by the state of New York, Stony Brook Institution (SBU) is located in a suburban location on Long Island, approximately 60 miles east of New York City. SBU is a public university. As with the other universities that we discussed earlier, the academic year is divided into semesters at this institution. The university is a public research facility that offers the students a grant to study in both the ocean and space. In addition to being a National Merit university, it is also a member of the Association of American Universities.
SBU is one of only ten universities in the United States that meets the requirements of the National Science Foundation for both its research and its undergraduate education programs. Its primary areas of study include dentistry, nursing, social welfare, medicine, and health technology and management, to name a few of its more prominent programs.
