In 2005, S. Joseph Donahue began working at Block O’Toole & Murphy, and by 2012, he had been promoted to Partner. Since joining the firm, Mr. Donahue has won or settled substantial personal injury lawsuits including construction accidents, automobile accidents, tractor-trailer accidents, and medical negligence for more than one hundred million dollars.
Throughout his career, Mr. Donahue has worked as a prosecutor in Brooklyn for cases involving violent offenses and as a trial attorney for clients who have suffered catastrophic personal injuries, and he has earned a reputation as a skilled trial attorney. As a result of his stellar reputation as a trial attorney, Mr. Donahue has received a number of accolades, including inclusion in New York Magazine’s “Super Lawyers” list from 2011 to 2019, which places him among the top 5% of attorneys in the state, recognition as one of New York’s “Top 1% Trial Counsel for Medical Malpractice,” and admission to both the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum.
From 1997 to Present:
Mr. Donahue began his trial lawyer career in Brooklyn, New York, in 1997. Mr. Donahue investigated thousands of criminal cases as an assistant district attorney and won jury verdicts for crime victims. As Senior Assistant District Attorney, Mr. Donahue prosecuted serious offenses like homicides, shootings, and robberies.
Mr. Donahue left the District Attorney’s Office in 2003 and joined a major New York City medical malpractice legal firm. Mr. Donahue defended hospitals and doctors against malpractice claims in cardiology, obstetrics, neurosurgery, general surgery, and cancer misdiagnosis. Mr. Donahue handled personal injury lawsuits, including negligent security.
Mr. Donahue graduated from Loyola University in 1994 and CUNY Law in 1997. Mr. Donahue is licensed in New York and New Jersey.
