History:

The Doylestown Intelligencer was first published as a weekly in 1804 by Senator Joseph Grundy; in 1954, it was purchased by Calkins Newspapers Inc. Until the 1970s, Calkins oversaw The Daily Intelligencer as editor-in-chief. The Montgomery County Record (after simply The Record) was a sibling publication that appeared in the 1980s and 1990s. The acquisition of Calkins Media by GateHouse Media occurred in July of 2017. The Intelligencer now publishes six days a week, and its coverage area includes all of Central Bucks County, Upper Bucks County, and Eastern Montgomery County. Stories, photos, and commentaries on politics, business, human interest, sports, and entertainment sit alongside those on local news, crime, and the courts. One Oxford Valley, 2300 East Lincoln Highway, Suite 500 is the address of the newspaper’s headquarters in Langhorne, Pennsylvania.
