Anchor House, Brooklyn, New York

Anchor House is an intensive residential treatment program that is faith-based and licensed by OASAS (Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services). Our training can be completed in as little as three months or as long as 18 months, depending on the participant’s rate of advancement. We are a single program that is now operating in two locations and looking to grow. Both our men’s facility, which has fifty beds, and our women’s facility, which has twenty-eight beds, provide their residents with gender-specific educational programming. Additionally, treatment services are provided to pregnant women at Anchor House on an as-needed basis.

Our crew is comprised of individuals who possess a wide range of knowledge and expertise in the field of substance abuse therapy. A wide variety of Human Service professionals are represented on our team, including those with certifications such as CASAC, CASAC-T, LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, RN, LPN, CRC, Recovery Coach, Peer Advocates, and more. Our team possesses a plethora of education and training, and in addition to that, we provide internships to students working toward degrees such as BSW, MSW, CRC, MPA, and CASAC-T.

Anchor House strives to provide a journey, rather than a destination, for our customers once they have finished the curriculum that we offer. By participating in our alumni and mentorship program, former residents will have the opportunity to maintain their connections to the residential community as well as offer something back to it. During the course of treatment, clients are exposed to this idea through weekly community service projects that create a desire to assist others. Our aftercare and wrap around referral programs offer our clients help as they transition back into their communities and families.

Anchor House acknowledges that substance abuse can result in contact with the legal system, which can have a negative impact not only on the individual but also on their families. As a result, Anchor House collaborates with several authorities in the legal system (i.e., drug court, alternatives to incarceration, probation and parole). In order to facilitate the effective reunification of families, our relationships include, but are not limited to, the Administration for Children’s Services (ACS), Treatment Alternatives to Street Crime (TASC), Division of Youth and Family Services (DYFS), and a variety of foster care providers.

Our spiritual component is what sets us apart from other organizations because we offer the chance to learn how to live as a spiritual being that is not defined by our human experiences. Activities and workshops that offer practical application for spiritual living are a part of the optional portion of our spiritual curriculum.
